Genealogy and Family History research involves discovering personal information about our ancestors and sometimes about living relatives. This Privacy Policy provides an explanation as to what happens to any personal data that you provide to us, or that we collect from you. We do update this Policy from time to time so please do review this Policy regularly.

Any information stored or discovered during the course of research will be held under the terms below:

1. All data is stored and used in accordance with the provisions of the Data Protection Act 1998.
   

2. All research information is held in confidence and will not be released to any third party without your express permission unless we are required to release such data under a legal requirement.

3. Information will be retained until such time that you request the information is removed from our records.

4. As a member of AGRA, I am bound by its Code of Practice.

5. Under the provisions of the Data Protection Act you have the right to request a copy of the personal information that Chalfont Research holds about you and to have any inaccuracies corrected.

6. All information supplied to us is held on our own, local computers - we will ensure that it is held securely using appropriate physical, electronic and other means.

7. The transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure and therefore we cannot guarantee the security of data sent to us electronically and transmission of such data is therefore entirely at your own risk.
